Flotec Suspension - Scotland’s Suspension Experts
Flotec Suspension is an independent tuning and service centre specialising in mountain bike suspension. We have a wealth of experience working on many of the leading brands including Fox, Cane Creek, RockShox, BOS, DVO, KS and Marzocchi.
Suspension is an often overlooked element when it comes mountain bike maintenance, but as well as improved performance regular servicing can also increase the life span of your items and help to avoid expensive repairs in the long run.
Boss and head technician Taj, who has forgotten more about suspension than most people will learn in a lifetime, also works as an official race support technician in the Fox pits at the EWS and DH World Cup races. You can rest assured your gear will be in good hands and getting the pro race treatment.
We also sell an extensive range of new forks, shocks and seat posts. All purchases come with free fitting, set-up and first service. If you aren’t sure what you fancy we have a selection of demo forks and shocks available to try out.
Taj has been riding and fixing bikes for as long as he can remember. After leaving school he joined the Royal Air Force as a weapons technician. With training completed, he worked briefly servicing Sidewinder and Skyflash air-to-air missiles, before being posted to 617 Squadron (The Dambusters, RAF Lossiemouth) where he worked servicing Tornado aircraft, weapons systems and ejection seats. When not working, or occupied in overseas operations, Taj was heavily involved in the local Enduro motocross scene. Upon leaving the Air force and returning to Edinburgh, Taj began work at Macdonald Cycles and was taken under the “bingo wing” of Danny Macaskill in the workshop. Briefly working in The Bike Chain as workshop manager, he moved on to work at the Bike Station before deciding to set up Flotec with close friend James.
During the 2013 Downhill world cup Taj worked with the KHS Factory down-hill team on the world cup circuit as mechanic for Logan Bingelli and Kevin Aiello. In 2014 EWS season Taj worked with The Cube Action Team. The team had some great results with the highlight being Greg Calaghan winning the round in Ireland.
